Located at an important gateway at the Southern End of Anzac Parade, the site plays a part as an important component of the K2K urban strategy seeking to transform the Anzac Parade corridor between Kensington and Kingsford.
The 18 Storey proposal provides 425 beds in a range of accommodation typologies from studios, twin share, and 5 bedroom Clusters.
As part of the program of the site 2 floors of strata, offices are envisaged as well as retail and cultural performance space to create a diverse mixed-use development that contributes to the community of Kensington.
The accommodation incorporates a generous mix of communal spaces and facilities that are spread throughout the building to meet, study, and relax.
The tower is expressed as two parallel bar forms of student rooms sitting astride a podium. The bar forms are aligned north-south and are kinked, split, and shifted to provide daylight, ventilation, breakout spaces, and building articulation.
From the outset, the towers used the existing context as the starting point of the conceptual process. The arched window a contextual reference to the historical past of Anzac Parade.
