Lucent is the result of a strong and successful team approach to design. The display suite was developed in parallel to the early building concepts – as a result the interior design team worked at the detail while the architectural team concurrently considered the big picture. The result was the development of the Lucent concept and brand, manifesting in the shimmering and faceted surfaces that were expressed in both the facade and the joinery.
The display suite incorporated an approach to the glazing of the existing building in which it was housed. This then fed back into the design for the lobbies by way of the bronze-coloured sharply-folded wall and soffit cladding.
The branding agency took on the Lucent concept and reflected it in their marketing collateral. They were asked to incorporate graphic elements that could be fed back into the building detail. This they did, and the Turner environmental graphics team used the linework from the brochures in the lift lobby feature walls and glass awning to the street.
This symbiotic relationship between building, interior architecture, display suite, branding and environmental graphics was incredibly collaborative and entwined.
