‘Landing’ is the first phase of the masterplan precinct ‘Sanctuary’ on the 9.4 hectare Wentworth Point site. It is comprised of 4 riverfront buildings totaling 364 apartments and townhouses, surrounded by the extensive Newington Reserve and Millenium Parklands. Turner is working closely with Sekisui House to develop the masterplan, and the 7 phases of the project which are aligned with the aim of being “One with Nature”. The buildings are wrapped in terracotta, reflective of the natural clay colours of the site. The gentle curves of the facades echo the wide bend of the adjacent river.
Turf Landscape Architects have conceived a lush communal podium courtyard for residents, as well as a new public park along Hill Road. The landscaping integrates several water features that cascade from the podium down to street level and meander through the public domain into the main lobby entry. This strong connection between architecture and landscape reinforces the theme of “One with Nature”.
