Hobart Civic Square is within the heart of the bustling waterfront precinct of Hobart and one of Tasmania’s key tourist destination. The Expression of Interest seeks to revitalize the urban space for the benefit of the community encompassing a range of activities, whilst respecting the historical character of the existing buildings.

The vision is to create a tourist and local destination celebrating Tasmanian history, culture and produce. The development will respect and reinstate the historical significance of the site offering community and retail opportunities.

The Hobart Rivulet Distillery will be Australia’s preeminent distillery, the pinnacle of Tasmania’s ever growing whiskey train and the latest jewel of Hobart’s tourism experiences. Featuring a fully functional distillery, restaurant, and an interactive tour, the venue will be a welcome and exciting addition to the city’s tourist attractions.

As part of the proposal, a Cultural Centre will represent a meeting place at the heart of the city enrooted in the collective Tasmanian culture, turning into a unique, flexible and technologically advanced architectonic landmark, triggering the urban transformation of its surroundings.

Hobart will gain a landmark precinct, with unique characteristics, voted to benefit residents and tourists, expanding the knowledge, traditions and history of Tasmania.
