The Gateway South Parramatta project is a visionary development designed to bring a new retail, commercial and residential living experience to Sydney’s second city. With the support of the local Council, the zoning and height criteria were amended to significantly improve the feasibility of the project in order to become the critical renewal catalyst for the South Parramatta and Auto Alley precincts.
The proposal is for 3 towers situated above a retail and residential podium on the west side of the site and for two commercial buildings fronting Church Street to the east. At the northern edge of the site, the tallest tower, with an integrated services and plant roof feature rises as the area’s landmark structure designating the gateway entry point into the Parramatta CBD.
Through the centre of the site is a series of interlocking plazas and streets forming a vibrant active public domain, connecting the retail, commercial, hotel, residential and parkland components into one landscaped urban space.
An ambitious sustainability program, including favourable apartment orientation, rainwater bio- filtration, tri-generation plant, and ‘eco-bubble’ landscape concept take advantage of the opportunities of a hybrid collection of buildings. The aim is to achieve a practical sustainability where the different components contribute real value to the living environment and economies of building management.
