The changing urban strategy for Central Sydney has encouraged innovative mixed-use proposals for city sites. This hotel and residential development proposes a new tower form rising from a heritage façade on the street. The distinctive existing arched façade is extruded through the building to create a memorable lobby space and connections to harbour views to the west. The tower form follows a prescribed setback to highlight the heritage façade but then gently cantilevers back toward the street.
The vertical lines of the façade articulate further to guide sightlines obliquely up and down the street. High above a communal rooftop and pool enjoy views across the city with a white-glazed cloud structure giving protection from the elements.
